10. Australium Medi Gun

Australium Medi Gunphoto source: Steam Community

In the Two Cities Update, an extremely uncommon class of weapons known as Australium weapons—such as the Australium Medi Gun—was introduced. They are special reskins of particular weapons, similar to Botkiller weapons, and have a low possibility of being given out after finishing a full Advanced or Expert Tour of Duty in Mann Up mode.

The unique golden skin is made of the same material as the Golden Wrench, Saxxy, and Golden Frying Pan, although it serves only as a decorative covering. Every Australium weapon is of a Strange caliber.

Did You Know?

A golden glow can be seen beneath the kill icon of an Australium weapon after it has killed a target. You can festivize a few of the Australium weaponry.

9. Unusual Medic’s Mountain Cap

Price: $30 to $250
Slot: Cosmetic
Availability: Drop, Craft, Purchase, or Uncrate (Unusual)
Release Date: April 7, 2011

Unusual Medic’s Mountain Capphoto source: Team Fortress Wiki

A community-made accessory for the Medic is the Mountain Cap. It is a ski cap in the color of the team with the class emblem of the medic on the front. Since the late 19th century, several armed forces that speak German or have German influences have used the ski cap as a type of field cap.

Although the design was created in imperial Austria-Hungary, it gained widespread recognition as the M43 field cap (Einheitsmütze) worn by the German Wehrmacht and SS in World War II.

Except for the bill being somewhat longer and the top panel of the hat having a smaller circle, which gave it slightly sloped-in sides, the design is used in Germany as the distinctive headgear of the Gebirgsjäger.

Did You Know?

Despite the current German government’s sensitivity to World War II, M43 field caps are still used by the Bundeswehr.

8. Spectral Flame Phlogistinator

Price: $95
Slot: Primary
Availability: Drop, Craft, Purchase, or Chemistry Set (Collectors)
Release Date: December 15, 2011

Spectral Flame Phlogistinatorphoto source: GameBanana

One of the Pyro’s main weapons is the Phlogistinator (sometimes called the Phlog). It is a retro-futuristic ray blunderbuss with team-specific metal pieces painted copper or silver and a canister in the team color with the Dr. Grordbort crest. The energy waves that it discharges have the same properties as the flames of a flamethrower. You can’t employ compression blasts or get random crits with this weapon.

The ‘Mmmph’ bar will, however, grow as long as the Pyro is equipped and deals fire damage with any weapon. This damage only affects players, not buildings, despite the fact that it isn’t explicitly stated in the weapon’s description. Once it is full, it can be used to perform an alt-fire or a taunt that will give the Phlogistinator only a brief crit boost.

Did You Know?

The user of this taunt gains protection from damage and knockback. If the player is in the air or on the water, the taunt won’t work.

Through frayed cables, they are connected to the class. White musical notes may be seen sporadically playing from them when they are worn.

There is no sound effect connected to the musical notes. Players who opened Team Fortress 2 between June 10, 2010, and June 14, 2010, utilizing the macOS operating system (at the time, Mac OS X), received this item.

Later, the deal was extended through August 16 before expiring.

6. Vintage Max’s Severed Head

Vintage Max’s Severed Headphoto source: Steam Community

A promotional cosmetic item for all classes is Max’s Severed Head. The headgear is modeled after Max’s head from the Sam & Max series; it has long, floppy ears, two black beady eyes, a pink nose, jagged upper teeth, and the top half of a white rabbit’s head. Prior to April 15, 2010, anyone who purchased Sam & Max: The Devil’s Playhouse on Steam was given this gift.

Players who made a purchase from the Telltale Games shop before the specified cutoff date and redeemed the promotional code they were qualified to use were also eligible to participate in the offer.

Did You Know?

The hat was made, according to the in-game description, in Philippine farms that practiced no animal cruelty. This alludes to the Philippines-based plot of the first Sam & Max comic, Monkeys Violating the Heavenly Temple.

5. Black Rose

Price: $1,465
Slot: Melee
Availability: Promotional (expired)
Release Date: February 14, 2012

Black Rosephoto source: Team Fortress Wiki

The Black Rose is Spy’s promotional melee weapon. It is modeled by the Rose-Etched Knife from the video game Alliance of Valiant Arms, which is a double-edged, partially serrated butterfly knife with flowers engraved along the blade and an impression of an encircling rose on the grips. This item comes in the “Mystery and True Love” and “Baccara” designs.

While the “Baccara” style paints the weapon nearly totally black, the “Mystery and True Love” style gives the weapon a team-colored finish. The Knife and this weapon both do the same thing. When you taunt while wearing the Black Rose, you get the Fencing kill taunt.

Players who achieved the Alliance of Valiant Arms achievement 1st One Down received this item.

The said game has been discontinued as of June 29, 2018, making this item unavailable.

When users buy and use the code found in PC Gamer issue 232 (UK), they are given an item of Genuine quality. You could also get it by purchasing PC Gamer Digital Episode 1 on Steam.

No longer available for purchase, all PC Gamer Digital “Episodes” were taken down from the Steam Store at an undisclosed time.

On Valve’s instruction, The Killer Exclusive was subsequently added to the Steam Workshop.

3. Strange Golden Frying Pan

Price: $2,200
Slot: Melee
Availability: Reward
Release Date: November 21, 2013

Strange Golden Frying Panphoto source: Steam Community

All classes can use the Golden Frying Pan as a melee weapon. It is a Frying Pan, either constructed of pure Australium or plated with Australium. The Golden Frying Pan has additional cosmetic features in addition to its identical functionality to the default melee weapon for the player’s selected class.

When it makes contact with a surface or a player, it plays Left 4 Dead 2 pan weapon sounds, and any enemies it kills instead of the usual ragdolls instead produce immobile statues of pure Australium.

This also freezes any jiggle bones on opponent ragdolls. Additionally, when an adversary is killed, a distinctive sound effect is played that is exclusive to this weapon, the Golden Wrench, and the Saxxy. When an Engineer kills an enemy, special voice lines will begin to play.

Did You Know?

Golden Frying Pans are a very uncommon reward for completing an Advanced or Expert Tour of Duty in Mann Up mode, and they can be acquired in Strange quality with a pre-applied Professional Killstreak Kit.

2. Collector’s Dead of Night

Price: $2,450
Slot: Cosmetic
Availability: Drop, Craft, Purchase, Uncrate #79 (expired)
Release Date: December 20, 2013

Collector’s Dead of Nightphoto source: Team Fortress Wiki

All classes can use the community-created cosmetic item called The Dead of Night. It transforms the attire of each class into a winter overcoat with a dark team-colored collar, lapels, cuffs, and lining that is worn over a dark, striped turtleneck sweater.

In addition, it gives the Spy shoulder patches and extends or adds sleeves for the Scout, Demoman, Heavy, and Sniper classes. Buttons are added for all other classes besides the Sniper, Demoman, and Engineer.

“Dark – Hide Grenades,” “Light – Hide Grenades,” “Dark,” and “Light” are the names of the four styles available for this item. In contrast to “Light,” which simply paints the sweater inside the coat, “Dark” type coats have lapels, lining, and cuffs that are colored when painted. The lining, lapels, and cuffs of the “Light” style become white when left unpainted.

Did You Know?

The grenades held by the Soldier, Pyro, and Demoman are also taken out of their chests by “Dark-Hide Grenades” and “Light-Hide Grenades.”

1. Team Captain

Price: $6,695
Slot: Cosmetic
Availability: Drop, Craft, Purchase, Uncrate (Unusual)
Release Date: May 5, 2011

Team Captainphoto source: Team Fortress Wiki

For the Soldier, Heavy, and Medic, the Team Captain is a community-made cosmetic item and is considered the most expensive. The cap has a military peak and a front emblem with wings. Depending on which class is using it, it has a slightly different appearance.

The Soldier’s version is vividly team-colored, with gold insignia and a longer visor; the Medic’s version has more subdued team-colored tones, with a silver insignia and shorter visor; and the Heavy’s version has a bronze-copper colored insignia, a shorter visor, and is the same brown color for both teams. The headgear is remarkably similar to that of the Team Captain in the Street Fighter series, Bison.

Did You Know?

The description of the item makes reference to an episode of the Street Fighter animated series where M. Bison exclaims “YES! YES!” as he revels in the defeat of the character Guile.
