Since being released in July of 2015, the vehicular soccer multiplayer game, Rocket League by Psyonix, has only grown in popularity. Multiple versions of the game have been released, including for Sony and Microsoft’s major consoles, Windows, macOS, and recently on the Nintendo Switch. In 2020, the game became free-to-play, making its money from microtransactions, advertising, and a growing esport circuit surrounding the game. In the last five years, over 40 million players have downloaded Rocket League.
With a game as enormous and competitive as Rocket League, the major eCommerce implications of such a franchise have naturally led to it being the center of its own economy. It focuses on items that can be purchased through loot crates, which randomly give players cosmetic items in exchange for real currency.
The rarest of these items can make major money through player trading on the game’s marketplace! Here are the 8 most expensive Rocket League items.
- Dominus (Titanium White)
- Dieci (Black)
- Apex (Titanium White)
- Reaper (Black)
- Gold Cap
- Goldstone
- Gold Rush
- White Hat
Item Type: Body

The first item on the list is also the game’s rarest body type. The Titanium White Dominus body was only available in that color in January 2020, returning briefly in September of 2021. Making it available in the store again makes it unique among limited items. Its resurgence reduced the price of the Titanium White Dominus in the wild, but it couldn’t take it off the list completely!
The Dominus trades for an average of 24,500 credits, or $147.

At its top value of all time, the Titanium White Dominus was going for around 42,000 credits on Nintendo Switch. To keep things even, we’re going to be using the PC values for this list, though you can expect to pay more or less for certain items on different console versions of Rocket League.

The customizable Dieci wheels are classified as common items, though painted versions can be considered uncommon and are only available through trade. These were only available in the wild before August 4, 2017, after which they were discontinued, as the Black Dieci wheels were.
This makes them some of the rarest wheels in Rocket League, valued at an average of 30,000 credits. This makes the wheels worth $180 in real-world money.
Did you know?
All common wheels, including the default Dieci wheels, can be unlocked by finishing matches, either online or offline. Like other common items, only painted versions that are certified can be traded with other players.
Item Type: Wheels

Like many of the items on this list, the Apex wheels give your cars a major boost in profile. These limited-edition wheels, the Titanium White ones particularly, were only available to players who both watched the RLCS on Twitch (Rocket League Championship Series) and who were also registered for fan rewards.
This means that these wheels could only be received from June 2017 to January 2018. They were given out during the live broadcast of the event as a random drop if the player qualified. Their average trade value now is 45,000 credits, or $270.

Wheels are cosmetic items, meaning they don’t impact performance. Each has a unique tread and rim design and can be painted and/or certified, provided they come from a blueprint. These limited Apex wheels, like all of the ones gifted at limited events, don’t apply to this.
Item Type: Goal Explosion
Dollar Value: $450

One of the many customizable options in Rocket League is called the goal explosion. They weren’t original to the game – they were added in the 2nd-anniversary update in July of 2017. When equipped, goal explosions keep track of your goals in the match and display a unique animation.
The Black Reaper goal explosion was part of the Haunted Hallows Series. It displayed a gruesome grim reaper and is by far the most valuable of all goal explosions, valued at 75,000 credits. In dollars, this means you’ll have to shell out $450 to get this.

Haunted Hallows was the very first special event, which took place from October 16 to November 6, 2017. This event also introduced decryptors to the game.
Item Type: Alpha Reward
Dollar Value: $624

Players who participated in the Alpha version of Rocket League on PC were given exclusive rewards when the game was released. They’ll be the next few items on this list, so you can be sure that these unique rewards command outrageous prices.
The Gold Cap is a topper that was the least of these rewards but still gives players a unique cosmetic item that is among the most desirable in the game. The Gold Cap is worth an average of 104,000 credits now, or about $624.

Before Rocket League was called Rocket League it went under the working title of Supersonic Acrobat Rocket-Powered Battle-Cars (it’s a mouthful, but we’d have still bought it). Players who tested this version of the game represent the most seasoned of all Rocket League players, some of them going pro immediately, even back in the SARPBC days.
Item Type: Alpha Reward
Dollar Value: $3,600

The Goldstone wheels are an Alpha Reward or “Alpha Wheels,” which were given to players who participated in Alpha Testing on the original Rocket League on PC from February 2014 until August 2014. The exclusive way these items were originally given out makes them now among the rarest and most desirable items in the game.
The Goldstone wheels are worth, on average, 600,000 credits, which in dollars has a conversion value of $3,600.

The coveted Alpha Rewards make up a large percentage of the rarest items in Rocket League. They include the Gold Cap and Goldstone already mentioned as well as the Gold Rush boost that we’ll be talking about next. The Beta Reward called the Gold Nugget is the only other item of this kind, given out to participants of the game’s Beta version. Since more players were involved by that point, more of the Gold Nuggets were given out than the Alpha rewards. The nuggets are valued at around 14,250 credits.
Item Type: Alpha Reward
Dollar Value: $6,300

Only the game’s Alpha testers were given this exclusive Alpha Reward known as the Gold Rush. It’s a limited rocket boost that can give you a competitive edge when customized into the build of your car, as well as make you look amazing in the game with a huge fiery trail behind your vehicle.
In addition to being only available to Alpha testers, getting the Gold Rush boost also required the player to invite other players to the Alpha (and only on PC). In trades, the Gold Rush item goes for an average of 1.05 million credits, which is about $6,300 in real-world money.
Did you know?
The Alpha Rewards are among a shortlist of valuable items that can still be traded but cannot be acquired anymore. Players would have had to participate in certain events to nab these items, including the game’s alpha phase, Competitive Playlists in certain seasons (2, 8, and 11), and those who registered for fan rewards during the game’s reward phases on Twitch.
Item Type: Topper
Dollar Value: $7,000

The most expensive Rocket League item is the White Hat. It’s so expensive that it’s not listed on the major price trackers for the game. Instead, this unique item is limited in quantity, unlike many of the game’s items, due to its nature as a unique reward from the developer.
Only a few white hat toppers are known to exist and command huge prices whenever they’re traded. The average sale price for a white hat is an insane 1.165 million credits, which is the real-world equivalent of about $7,000, making it the most expensive item in the game.
Did you know?
The white hat topper is limited because Psyonix originally only gave them out as rewards to players who reported game-breaking competitive exploits to them so they could fix them. Ever since the game went to its free-to-play form in 2020, the white hat is no longer an active reward at all. Now, Psyonix rewards these players with money instead, making the white hats that exist even rarer and more valuable as a result.
The Takeaway
Rocket League is so popular that it has created a massive revenue stream as one of the most competitive esports. The game is so big now that its owner made more money by making it free-to-play! Some of the items in the game command outrageous prices, most of which were given out during special events in limited qualities. If you were there at the time, hopefully you kept your treasure! You might be sitting on a few thousand bucks and never knew it.
