OSRS or Old School RuneScape is a thing of magical nostalgia. Also known as 2007scape, this game is a backup from the Jagex archive of the online MMORPG, RuneScape, as it appeared in 2007 before the remake and updates turned it into the game it is today. The player base for OSRS is about as large as that of normal RuneScape. The game has free and paid servers, including six months of free membership after you make your account.
OSRS preserves the game as it once was, including its competitive economy. Every day, items change in value on the game’s Grand Exchange, revealing the most expensive items in the world of OSRS, some of which are valued in the billions. Here’s our guide to the 8 most expensive OSRS items.
- Elysian Spirit Shield
- 3rd Age Bow
- Twisted Bow
- 3rd Age Druidic Cloak
- Elysian Sigil
- 3rd Age Druidic Robe Bottoms
- 3rd Age Druidic Robe Top
- 3rd Age Pickaxe

Requirements: 75 Defence, 75 Prayer

The Elysian spirit shield requires 75 “Defence” (which was spelled that way in OSRS) and 75 Prayer to equip. It’s one of the rarest items in the game because of how it is obtained. The shield can only be made by attaching the Elysian sigil (see below) to the blessed spirit shield, a process that requires 90 Prayer and 85 Smithing all on its own.
This means that players will need three different skills at levels 75-90 to make and equip this rare item. Otherwise, players can buy “Ely” on the Grand Exchange for 899,041,985 coins. It sounds like a lot (it is), but we’re just getting started!
Did you know?
The Elysian sigil used to make this shield can only be obtained by defeating the powerful Corporeal Beast (players call it “Corp”), which lives in its own cave in the game and which can only be accessed with a specific necklace. With 2,000 hit points, 50% damage reduction, and a ridiculous ability to heal, this monster is a trial all on its own.

The 3rd age bow is the first of many items on this list in the 3rd age sets, which are master tier rewards for completing the game’s Treasure Trails. This bow requires 65 Ranged skill to wield and can be used to complete Inferno speed runs due to its range and versatility (the bow can fire all the game’s arrows, up to Dragon).
Owning this 3rd age bow without completing the trails will cost 985,431,627 coins on the Grand Exchange.
Did you know?
The 3rd age ranger kit includes not only this bow but also a high-value coif, legs, top, and vambraces.

If you defeat the Chambers of Xeric, a raid released in January 2017, you stand to earn this coveted reward. The Twisted Bow is a formidable weapon, as well as the most expensive in all of OSRS (unless you count a pickaxe listed later). The Twisted bow has a 10-tile range and requires a Ranged level of 75 to wield.
The Twisted bow or “Tbow” was said to be carved from the Great Olm in OSRS mythology. Owning this bow without taking on Xeric will cost you 994,739,469 coins on the Grand Exchange.
Did you know?
The Twisted Bow can fire any arrow type in OSRS, including the coveted Dragon arrows. The Chambers of Xeric where the bow can be earned is the first raid ever released in OSRS.

The 3rd age druidic cloak is another rare reward from the Treasure Trails, if you dare to face them at the master tier. In the entire druidic robes set, this is almost the most valuable item (see below). But its value on the Grand Exchange, which is currently 1,043,023,972 coins, is certainly nothing to sneeze at! This is the first item we’re talking about that breaks the billion-coin mark.
The druidic robes are the newest items on this list, released in a 2019 update. The cloak requires 65 Prayer to wield and gives Prayer and Defence bonuses equal to the Vestment cloak.
Did you know?
Don’t confuse this cloak with another 3rd age reward, the 3rd age cloak, which is valued at a comparatively modest 238,135,825.

Requirements: 90 Prayer, 85 Smithing

The Elysian Sigil is not only the most expensive sigil in OSRS and the most expensive item in the Elysian set, but it is also the last item on this list that is not in the 3rd age set. The Elysian sigil, as previously mentioned, can only be obtained by defeating the Corporeal Beast or “Corp.”
Defeating Corp is the only way to get some of the game’s most valuable items, including the Elysian sigil. The sigil is the only way to make the elysian spirit shield, which is done by attaching it to the blessed spirit shield. This requires an obscene 90 Prayer and 85 Smithing level. Just buying the sigil without facing the beast is possible, but it’ll cost you. Specifically, you’ll have to shell out 1,137,623,180 coins.
Did you know?
Corp is also the only monster in the game to drop the spirit shield, arcane sigil, spectral sigil, and holy elixir.

Another of the items only available by completing the Treasure Trails on the master tier, the 3rd age druidic robe bottoms have the highest Prayer bonus for any leg item in the game (tied with the Proselyte tasset and cuisse). It requires 65 Prayer to wear these bottoms.
But you may never make it that far since these ultra-rare robes have been steadily increasing in value since 2020 when the COVID-19 pandemic boosted the player base of the game. To own these robes now by buying them on the Grand Exchange would cost 1,869,051,562 coins.
Did you know?
Each Prayer bonus point slows down your loss of prayer points by a factor equal to 3.33% of your point decay. This means that a Prayer bonus of +15 would make your points drop 50% as fast. The 3rd age druidic robe bottoms give a +6 Prayer bonus, which is nearly unheard of.

Continuing the 3rd Age equipment’s domination of the Old School RuneScape exchange rate, this is the 3rd age druidic robe top. This rare reward, also from the master tier of the Treasure Trails, is the rarest part of the 3rd age druidic robes set. To wear this robe requires 65 Prayer.
On the Grand Exchange, the 3rd age druidic robe top is one of only two items to break the two billion coins mark, costing 2,060,429,244 coins to buy in a trade. It has the highest Prayer bonus of any chest item in OSRS, tied with the Proselyte hauberk.
Did you know?
The 3rd age druidic wreath, an item you may know from the new RuneScape, did not exist in OSRS. This is because of the game’s midsummer events, which were special holiday events with various characters, vendors, and treasures, including a different druidic wreath.

Requirements: 65 Attack, 61 Mining

The most expensive OSRS item is the 3rd Age pickaxe. The 3rd age equipment just couldn’t relinquish control of the list! For the players that do the Treasure Trails on the highest tier, the combat sets that await them are legendary. But there’s only one pickaxe from the 3rd age and it’s the most expensive item in the game.
This pickaxe requires 65 Attack and 61 Mining to wield, giving players the same mining speed as the coveted Dragon pickaxe, valued at a comparatively modest 5,077,070 coins on the Grand Exchange. If you manage to complete the master Treasure Trails and nab the 3rd Age Pickaxe, you have an item that the game suggests is worth a value of 97,950. However, on the Grand Exchange, these pickaxes are so rare that nabbing one will actually cost you 2,147,483,647 coins.
Did you know?
The 3rd age equipment also includes one more item we didn’t talk about, which is its only combat weapon – the 3rd Age Axe. Though it didn’t make it onto this list of expensive OSRS items, it is valued on the Grand Exchange at a handsome 523,092,003 coins.
The Takeaway
Old School RuneScape is as much an online game as a historical artifact. It may not seem like much to some, but for a company to preserve a beloved game in its original, non-updated form is a real treat for fans of the fantasy world. You’d have to be playing for a long time to be able to afford any of the items on this list, but who knows? You may get lucky and find a master player ready to delete their account and dump their inventory on a lucky noob. Stranger things have happened in the world of Gielinor.
