9. Mercedes-Benz 250 GD Wolf

This Mercedes-Benz 250 GD Wolf was imported in 2019 from its European owners and refurbished for a June 2022 sale at Sand Lots for RM Sotheby’s.
This 1990 vehicle, the oldest on this list, was customized with mods by the Expedition Motor Company. However, it’s still original where it counts.
The custom interior is gray, with marine-grade upholstery accented by blue contrast stitching. The outside is an unmissable Sky Blue color. The engine powering this classic G-Class vehicle is an inline 2.5-liter, 5cyl diesel engine.
Its 5-speed transmission is manual, so this car is for those who want to take their 4WD GD Wolf off-road and conquer the world.
It sold at its auction for a final price of $107,800.

8. Mercedes-Benz G 550 Squared

The Mercedes-Benz G 550 Squared is a high-driving vehicle with even more ground clearance than the average G-Wagon (18 inches in this case). Its engine is a twin-turbocharged, 4-liter V8 monster that puts out 416 hp.
About 500 examples of the Mercedes-Benz G 550 Squared were released, with around 300 coming into the U.S.
The development of this offroad version of the boxy Mercedes-Benz body-on-frame model started in 1972. It kept evolving, becoming a military vehicle in the 80s and eventually entering civilian usage.
This G 550 Squared SUV, which is worth upwards of $285,900, is a prime example of G-class history.

The “G Model” Mercedes became especially famous when it was used as the “Popemobile” for the Vatican in 1980. The Shah of Iran was the one who suggested to Mercedes to turn it into a military SUV.
7. Mercedes-Benz G 65 AMG Final Edition

The Mercedes-Benz G 65 AMG Final Edition SUV is powered by a 6-liter V12 engine that puts out up to 621 bhp. Only 65 of these final editions were built (hence the name).
They were made to commemorate the release of the first-generation G-class vehicle, the W463 G-Wagen.
Each of these Final Editions was finished in black and matte bronze on the 21-inch wheels. The exterior trim detailing matches the luxurious interior, which consists of Nappa leather with brown stitching and a carbon-fiber trim.
The original AMG is the design source for over a third of all G-class vehicles. If you want to buy one of the 65 examples of this car new, you’ll have to spend as much as 310,233 Euros from the Mercedes AMG site. This is equal to $315,999.92.
Did you know?
A used version of this car was listed on RM Sotheby’s, bragging that it has only had one Kuwaiti owner since being bought in 2018. This is likely part of why it sold for the Euro equivalent of $285,916.18 in the Place Vauban in Paris on February 6, 2019, which by itself could have secured a place on this list.
6. Mercedes-Benz G500 Cabriolet Final Edition

Only 200 of the G500 Cabriolet Final Edition SUVs were ever built, making this model a rare collector’s item even before it hit the auction block at an RM Sotheby’s auction in 2021.
It’s part of the W463 G-Class SUVs, first offered in 1990 as a civilian version of Mercedes’ military vehicle, the W460.
In 1994, the then-current variation, the W463 became the consumer “G-Class,” or “G-Wagen.” This original line of the W463 vehicles would cease production in 2018.
This makes this 2014 version one of the last of its kind, in addition to being ridiculously rare. This Final Edition ended up selling at that Sotheby’s auction for the CHF equivalent of $396,605.48.

All the “Final Edition 200” vehicles had several luxury equipment features unique to their line, including 18-inch five-spoke alloy wheels and a leather interior by Designo. The soft top of the car is color-matched to the tonneau and the rear wheel covers are stainless steel.
5. Mercedes-Benz G 550 4×4 Squared AWD

The Mercedes-Benz G 550 4×4 is a Frankenstein’s monster built for power. It has the chassis of a normal G 500 but the wheel platform of a G63 AMG 6×6.
This means that it’s mounted high, higher even than a normal G-class Mercedes, giving you superiority on the civilian road and dominance off-road.
The car is finished in metallic white for that incredible sheen and the inside is custom black leather by Designo. The twin-turbocharged aluminum block V8 engine powers the car with 416 hp, controlled by an automatic 7-speed transmission.
The G 500 4×4 sold for 200,000 EUR when it went up for auction in February 2021 at an RM Sotheby’s sale. But the current prize is a custom model being sold on Car Gurus for $649,996 out of North Carolina.

The current OTR price of the G-Class Mercedes-Benz 4×4 is 123,500 Euros, so even the modern editions right out of the factory cost a pretty penny. This 2017 edition though is the most expensive of the bunch.
4. Mercedes-Benz G 63 AMG

The most expensive G-wagon is the Mercedes-Benz G 63 AMG. The engine on this beast is a 5.5-liter Biturbo V8 that powers all six wheels in style. This SUV has the power of a tank and the utility of a pickup truck.
Despite this utility, its interior is plush, made from luxury quilted leather.
This G-wagon can cost up to $774,995 with all the features. Even the basic 2021 AMG G 63 SUV is expensive, starting off at $156,450 MSRP.

3. Mercedes-Benz G-Class Brabus

The Mercedes-Benz G-Class Brabus is a monstrous SUV that best recalls the vehicle’s origins as a military design. The Rocket 900 V12 Biturbo engine can put out 888 hp.
As with all AMGs, it’s hand-made to provide the most meticulous mechanical performance that classic manufacturing techniques can exhibit.
Modifications for the Brabus over past models in its class include a full-body kit 10 cm wider than the previous model, upgraded suspension, and 24-inch wheels.
With everything installed, the G-Class Brabus can potentially set you back $875,500, making it one of the most expensive retail cars on the market.

The Mercedes-Maybach G 650 Landaulet is a powerful SUV, with a Biturbo V12 engine, portal axles, and an electric fabric top. It has a large rear compartment, defining this as the first Mercedes-Maybach off-roader ever made.
This SUV was limited in production to 99 units, contributing to its incredible resale value.
The open-top SUV market is full of heavy-hitters, but few have the presence of this Mercedes-Maybach Landaulet, which can sell for up to $1.2 million in various conditions.

The most expensive G-wagon is the Mercedes-Benz G-Class G AMG 63 6×6. The first owner ordered it new from the International Motor Show in Dubai.
The current owner has it listed on Car Gurus for $1.7995 million since very few of these 6×6 G AMG SUVs were ever produced.
The car comes equipped with a ton of features that make it the ultimate off-road SUV, including five differentials, off-road reduction gear, 40 kW of power, and of course its six driven wheels.
