Since Pokémon made its debut in the mid-1990s, the franchise has taken the world by storm and more than 25 years later, Pokémon is as popular as ever. While the Pokémon cards and games are the main draw of the franchise, official Pokémon plushes are incredibly popular/desirable. After all, these plushes are the closest thing to real-life Pokémon, especially because some of the rarest plushes are lifesize.
All of the Pokémon plushes on this list are no longer available in any official capacity, but they sometimes show up on resale sites. Of course, these rare Pokémon plushes don’t come cheap, and they often cost a few thousand dollars. But that’s a small price to pay for any hardcore Pokémon fan.

Shiny Red Gyarados is another rare Pokémon plush that was exclusive to Pokémon Centers in Japan. The plush was released in 2009 as part of the Gyarados/Magikarp Campaign. As a limited edition plush, the Shiny Red Gyarados was made in very low quantities.

The Giant Piplup plush could be pre-ordered for a few weeks in August 2021. The plush sits at nearly 3 feet tall and had a price tag of $350. The Giant Piplup plushes are set to begin shipping in April 2022, so if you missed the pre-order, you’ll have to wait until then for resellers. Of course, these cute Giant Piplups aren’t gonna be cheap when they show up on eBay.

This Giant Slowpoke plush is one of the latest releases in the Pokémon Center’s popular giant plush lineup. It was released in June 2021 initially at Japanese Pokémon Centers. The lifesize Slowpoke eventually popped up on the Pokémon Center’s American website and quickly sold out. Since its so new, the Giant Slowpoke plush has not made its way to resale sites yet, but when it does, it will probably be worth a pretty penny. Its original retail price was $450.

The Gigantamax Meowth plush was released in early 2021 and has a height of 65”, well over 5 feet! This version of Meowth comes from the Pokémon Sword and Shield game. The plush was available in limited quantities and originally retailed for $300. Currently, a few Gigantamax Meowth plushes are listed for nearly $1,000 on eBay.

In 2013, the Pokémon Center in Nagoya, Japan moved locations. To celebrate the grand opening of the new store, a special Giant Shiny Gold Magikarp was released in very limited quantities. There was also a smaller Shiny Gold Magikarp plush available, but the giant plush is more popular. Whenever, these Giant Shiny Gold Magikarp plushes show up on resale sites, they fetch over $1,000!

In 2019, Pokémon Center Japan released a Giant Furret plush that was nearly 6 feet long! Additionally, the Giant Furret weighed a whopping 72 pounds. Initially, the massive Furret was only available at Japanese Pokémon Centers, but was later released on the American Pokémon Center website. While, the Giant Furret plush originally retailed for $350, it has skyrocketed in price to over $2,000 on resale sites.

This Lifesize Mareep plush was released in 2019 and was literally the size it says in the Pokédex. Coming in at 2 feet tall and nearly 4 feet long, this Mareep plush was one of the biggest and heaviest ever released by the Pokémon center. Because of its massive size, the giant Mareep plush was only available through pre-order for a limited time. The original price of the Lifesize Mareep plush was $500 and it is now reselling for over $2,000.

Pokémon plushes with Ditto’s face (Ditto is a Pokémon who can almost perfectly mimic other Pokémon) are incredibly popular. One of the most desired Ditto face plushes is the so-called “Dittochu” from Pokémon Center Japan’s 2010 Rainbow Series. The fairly large Dittochu plush was produced in limited quantities and they come up for resale from time to time. Currently, Dittochu plushes have been listed for a few hundred dollars, but according to several sources, at one point, Dittochu was selling for a few thousand dollars.

According to rumors, the 2010 Dittochu was made out of a really soft plush material that is no longer used by plushie manufacturers, which only adds to its rarity.

The rarest of this first line of giant plushes are the three legendary dogs: Entei, Suicune, and Raikou. The giant plushes were produced in limited quantities and have been highly sought after these past 20 years. These giant legendary plushes hardly ever pop up on resale sites, but when they do, they sell for thousands of dollars.

photo source: With only 20 pieces available in Japan, the Giant Eeevee Plush Present is the rarest and most expensive Pokémon plush ever. The Giant Eevee Plush Present was released in 2012 as part of Banpresto’s I ♥ Eevee campaign. In addition to being produced in such a small quantity, the Giant Eevee Plush Present was only available through a lottery. To get a ticket to enter the lottery, players had to first win an I ♥ Eevee Bag-hang Plush from participating arcades.
Because of its rarity Giant Eevee Plush Presents have almost never appeared on resale sites. However, one did a few years ago and sold for over $5,000!

During the I ♥ Eevee campaign, some limited eeveelution plushes were available including Vaporeon, Umbreon, Leafeon, Jolteon, Flareon, Espeon, and Glaceon.
